What is the flooring installation process like, and how long will it take to complete?
The installation process involves surface preparation, application of the chosen flooring system, and curing time. It can take up to six to eight hours for epoxy to cure. The exact timeline will depend on the size of the area and the specific system used, but we aim to minimize downtime by working efficiently and ensuring the floor is ready for use as quickly as possible. We’ll provide a detailed timeline before the project begins.
How durable is epoxy for high-traffic areas?
Epoxy is highly durable and well-suited for high-traffic areas. It resists wear from foot traffic, scratches, and abrasions, making it an ideal choice for spaces like lobbies and hallways that see daily use.
Can epoxy be customized to align with my building’s design and branding?
Yes, epoxy is very customizable. It can be applied in a range of colors, patterns, and finishes, including decorative options like quartz and flake systems. This allows you to align the flooring with your building’s aesthetics or branding, creating a cohesive and professional look throughout your corporate space.
What is the maintenance process, and how often will it need to be reapplied or repaired?
Epoxy is low-maintenance. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping are usually enough to keep it looking clean. Depending on the traffic and care, epoxy flooring typically doesn’t need frequent reapplications; however, minor touch-ups may be needed every few years to maintain its appearance and functionality.
Does the epoxy leave a smell?
We use low-VOC products whenever possible. While some urethane systems may emit an odour during drying, there is no detectable scent once the project is complete.
Do you offer a warranty on your services?
Yes! Warranty is entirely dependent on the system chosen, application, quality of concrete, and traffic. During the quoting period we can specify with each proposed system what the warranty period would be.
Our front stairway was in a poor condition, concrete crumbling and cracking, with several layers of previous waterproof coatings peeling on the top. Justin from Flortek explained in detail the grinding and repair of the concrete necessary before the Flexstone product could be applied.
